We are excited to announce that Contract Manager Eric Sands has successfully completed the rigorous IADLEST certification and is now recognized as a National Certified Instructor.
This prestigious accomplishment highlights his experience, dedication and commitment to excellence in law enforcement training. With the IADLEST National Certification, Eric is equipped to deliver high-quality instruction in 38 POST (Peace Officer's Standards and Training) states, further enhancing the skills and knowledge of the Walden Security team.
“I look forward to being able to share my instructor/training skills and educational experiences with more students and instructors,” explained Eric on the IADLEST National Certification. “The exchange of information with other instructors and IADLEST resources will help me become a better student and instructor. I hope that, in the end, I can do the same for others.”
For the last 17 years, Eric has worked with the Court Security Officer program as the Contract Manager for the 7th Circuit. He has over 33 years of law enforcement experience, which includes 17 years and counting as a Police Officer and Training Coordinator for the Markle Indiana Police Department. He is also a Certified Medico-legal Death Investigator with the State of Indiana. He has been a Certified Generalist Instructor for 28 years and a Firearms Instructor (Handgun, Shotgun, Patrol Rifle and Less Lethal Munitions) for 26 years. Since 1991, he has taught over 4,000 total hours of law enforcement and emergency services training.
Eric joins several other Walden Security trainers to receive the IADLEST National Certification, including Charlie Brown (Assistant Director, FSD Training), John Pompi (Field Training Manager, FSD) and Dale Murray (Training Academy Instructor).
Please join us in congratulating Eric Sands on this achievement.
What is IADLEST?
The mission of the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) is to support the innovative development of professional standards in public safety through research, development, collaboration, and sharing of information to assist states and international partners with establishing effective and defensible standards for the employment and training of public safety personnel.
In 2018, IADLEST launched the IADLEST Nationally Certified Instructor Program to recognize and acknowledge the Nation’s FINEST instructors. These individuals display the “best practices” in training delivery by being highly recommended by POST and Academy Directors and by maintaining their training acumen by completing continuing professional education instructor coursework. In 2019, the program was expanded to encompass an international certification.
